Guarding animals

Guard animals are usually animals that behave aggressively towards intruding carnivores, or that alert humans to approaching carnivores allowing the human to take action to protect the livestock. In theory the guard animal could be any type of animal. The most commonly described guard animal is the livestock guarding dog, but other species such as llamas and donkeys also occur in the descriptive literature.
