Bags can be placed over fruit clusters to prevent wildlife access.
One Indian study tested covering date palm fruits with
bags to prevent damage from a variety of bird species and found that the total number of damaged fruits per palm was greater when fruits covered with 1 m2 paper bags (+ 65) as well as 50kg capacity gunny bags (+ 249) than without bags, due to damage caused by the bags themselves.
