Wildlife resistent containers

Wild animals that frequent into residential areas are often in search for anthropogenic resources, for instance by foraging in garbage. If such resources are made unavailable to the wild animals, they are expected to spend less time foraging in areas were they can interact with humans, and thereby reduce the risk for human injury.

One study evaluated the combined effect of bear-resistant garbage containers, and an information campaign to reduce resources, on the occurrence of American black bear damage of trash containers in residential areas in Colorado, USA. The study found a reduced level of bear damage in the treatment areas compared to control areas.
